February

February is the month of love. Well maybe not the month of love but at least a day of love. The 14th February has been the day set aside each year for husbands to get into trouble for forgetting to get their wives flowers and a card to express their love. For most husbands it is a day to dread while for their wives it is a day to be reminded that their husband loves them. Love is a strange word isn’t it? It means something different for different people. So how can we define such a word?

I believe the definition can be found in God. The Bible tells us God is love. So this is what love is….

Love is Limitless. God loves us and will always love us no matter what we do or do not do. God never tires of loving us; He never gets fed up with our faithlessness or weaknesses he never gives up on us.

Love is Open. God tells us he loves us. He tells us in the Bible and shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners he sent his son to die for us.

Love is Vicarious. It cost God everything to love us. God did not spare his only son. Although salvation is free for us it cost God everything.

Love is for everyone. God loves everyone he is not racist, bigoted. God treats everyone the same. He has no favourites.

If we copy God’s love then everyday will be like 14th February it will be a lovely day.
